The locals are tough here, but this point break is super cool. The wave breaks on a sandy reef and has a nice shape to it. It’s not too big, but if you’re an intermediate surfer, it will be challenging enough for you to keep coming back.
There are plenty of waves here to accommodate all levels of surfers. The less experienced ones can practice at the inside peak, while the more ambitious ones can try to make it down the steep outside wall.

Surfing in lagide in peniche is a dream spot. I love that this wave is a bit more difficult to surf and you have to be tough to survive the locals here. It’s not for the faint hearted but if you want to get better at surfing, this is a must visit spot.
Here you can see both brothers Fonseca showing off their skills.
Gui (surf) and Daniel (bodyboard) Fonseca are surfers from Peniche. They have been surfing together since they were young. Their passion for surfing is so intense that they travel around the world to catch the best waves.
The beach at Lagide is quite long and wide with soft sand and shallow water, which makes it perfect for beginners to learn how to surf.
Gui and Daniel have strong links to the local surf school, Peniche Surf School, which has been around since 1997 when it opened its doors in Lagide. The founder of the school is Carlos Cabaço who started his passion for surfing when he was only 12 years old back in 1982. He used to travel all over Europe looking for good waves and now he’s teaching others how to enjoy this sport too!
